Saturday continued...

After my trip to the Farmer's Market I moved on to the annual "Insectival" at the Botanical Gardens. Insectival is a children's program that gives kids the opportunity to check out all sorts of insects and learn more about them hands on. Along with activities for the kids going on all day long there was also a butterfly release that a ton of people came out for! It was fun to see so many kids excited to learn more about insects. (surprisingly, very few of them were afraid).

After my trip to the beautiful botanical gardens I went to shoot the Bulldog Invitational Women's Tennis Tournament on campus. Once those photos were edited and posted on the web I finally got to relax a little and watch the Dawgs play (and beat South Carolina---GO DAWGS!) I had a jam packed Saturday and it was a blast. Recently I have been falling more in love with photography every time I press my shutter. (I hope that you enjoy looking at them just as much as I enjoyed making them).

Out and about....

...that's what I was doing all day Saturday. I was up bright and early Saturday morning with a trip to the Farmer's Market here in town. I had never been before, but heard great things about it. Everything I heard was true. It was amazing!!! I had such a great time meeting new people and getting some wonderfully beautiful, colorful photos. Everyone there was incredibly friendly and they were selling all local, sustainable produce, flowers, fresh juices, bakery items etc. I had peach juice from "Righteous Juice" and a Luna Baking Co. cranberry muffin. I haven't had a breakfast this delicious in a very long time.

Baby High Heels???

Nothing interesting on my camera today, but I was watching The Today Show for a couple of minutes this morning and in that short time a segment about high heels for babies came one. Yes, I am serious. I can't make up something that crazy. I don't know how I feel about sweet little baby girls walking around, or learning to walk, in what looks like little minnie mouse shoes. I think it's a little much...a little weird. You can decide for yourself.

Skies are smiling at me

I am trying hard to keep this blog up to date. I think that is has turned into "photo of the week" instead of "day". None the less, here is my attempt at an update. I was shooting the UGA Soccer game Friday night and the sky was absolutely beautiful. I noticed it and began to pay more attention to it than the game. Athens always seems to have very beautiful and always different sunsets. (That's only one tiny reason why I love this city so much).

The Cornhole Toss

Saturday was gameday in Athens. The game didn't start until 3:30 so there was plenty of time for food, fun, family and friends! Along with the usual tailgating activities of grilling burgers and hot dogs we enjoyed some fun games of cornhole thanks to Brandon and Natalie (makers of the cornhole boards and bean bags). I was taking pictures (as usual) and thought that it was really funny to see the different cornhole throwing forms. My favorites are Natalie's lefty throw and lip bite (notice the intense concentration) and Bryan's "leg up" throw. After the game and win over Central Michigan we all ironically ended up at the bowling alley....Surprisingly I didn't have my camera, but I'm sure next time I will document our bowling form. I am sure the pictures will look very similar to these....

Finally....

Well, since school started back about 2 weeks ago I have been overwhelmed and incredibly busy. I think this will probably be my busiest semester since I have been in Athens, I have barely found time to do my homework, let alone blog. I won't be getting much homework done this weekend because the DAWGS will be between the hedges ...and so will I! I am interning with the Athletic Association's Sports Communication Office for the semester taking pictures of all of the fall sports and could not be MORE THRILLED!!! It is absolutely the most amazing opportunity and the best way I can think of to spend my last semester as a student at UGA. I will be on the field shooting our Dawgs during every home game and am scared and excited all at the same time.

These pictures don't have anything to do with anything really. I was just having fun getting some of the hummingbirds at Alan's apartment and thought they turned out good.

Watson Mill Bridge

Since I have been back in Athens I have been thinking about the many things that I have yet to do or see in the past 4 years. The things that I have been meaning to do and have been putting off for no reason in particular. With some downtime since I have been back in town I have decided that this is entirely unacceptable and there is no reason to put off having fun and exploring the city I love. So, I have come up with a list of places to go and things to do during my last months in Athens (as a student anyways). One thing on the list was to visit Watson Mill Bridge, so Alan and I went today to check it out. Here is a picture of what the park used to look like before the drought. Kind of pretty right?

This is the picture I took of the bridge today. Much less water, but it made for good exploring.
