Over the weekend...

I went to visit Alan and his parents and had a wonderfully fun weekend! I had more than one picture that I liked from the weekend..well actually, these are all from Saturday, but I had to include them all. We went out on the boat and went fishing, scalloping, and even swam with a manatee :) I am glad that I had the opportunity to have a fun day out on the water, since summer is quickly coming to an end!!

I really love this picture of Alan. He looks so powerful :)

This is our friend the manatee that we joined for a swim (he was much bigger than he looks in this picture).

More Summer Fun in the Sun

Yesterday my family and I went to the "Splash in the Boro" water park in Statesboro for a day of fun (mostly for the little ones). However, my brother and I managed to have a little fun ourselves. This is one of my favorite photos from the day. The smiles on Sarah and Brandon's faces are so cute and they lasted the entire day. The park was practically made for them...a perfect place for tiny little swimmers.

Baby Blues

Yesterday I babysat my nephew Brandon. He's such a smart, funny kid. He usually doesn't sit still long to get a picture, but yesterday I managed to get a few good ones. This is my favorite. What beautiful baby blues!

Fun in the Sun

Today was my nephew Brandon's first trip to the beach. It was a beautiful, perfect day to be out in the sun.

Something New and Different

Well, I was getting a little bored with the look of my blog so I decided I would change it a little bit. I can't decide if I really like it like this, but at least it's something a bit different. I also did a little changing to the actual "theme" of my blog. I have come to realize that I do very little "blogging" (actually writing about things) on here. I mostly post pictures...well, because photography is my passion and I would rather take pictures than describe something in words (even though some people I know are much better with words than I). I decided this blog is now going to be "My Day in Pictures," because that gives me a reason to not write anything if I don't want..but I guess this is MY blog, so I can really do anything I want. So, hopefully I will have a fun or interesting photo to post everyday...and if not, I will find something fun or interesting and photograph it! Since there is no time better than the present, here is today's picture. I came to the realization today that the coast is incredibly beautiful (more beautiful than I ever appreciated before) and I am lucky to get to see views like this one everyday! (Having grown up on the coast I know that I will greatly miss it if I were to ever move away from it...so I think I'll stay...hopefully I will get to live on another one someday)!!!

Family, fireworks, fun, and a wedding!

Well, looking back on it, 4th of July weekend was quite eventful. Alan came to town and we went downtown on Friday to watch the fireworks (a tradition I have had since I was very young.) I haven't been since I moved to Athens for school 4 years ago. I forgot what I was missing..I really LOVE fireworks! Then, Saturday, Alan and I went to Amy and Tim's wedding. (friends of ours from Athens, UGA, and BPG). The wedding was in downtown Savannah at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. The Cathedral was absolutely breathtaking, the perfect setting. Then, on our way home from the wedding we stopped in Richmond Hill to watch the fireworks show....2 fireworks shows in one weekend (there's a reason the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays).

We were all looking so festive for the 4th I had to get a picture with my cousin Emily, 10 and Sarah, 3.

Emily, one of my very best friends from high school, joined us for the fireworks downtown.
We decided to watch the show from Hutchinson Island, across the Savannah River. (River Street is behind us).

Alan and I before Tim and Amy's Wedding.

Amy, the beautiful bride and myself.

Kids do the darndest things

Since my cousins and aunt have been in town visiting the house has been anything but boring. My cousin Sarah, who is 3, has something new and funny to do or say everyday. I had to take a picture when she passed out on the couch as she was petting Harley.

This is the way my nephew, Brandon, "hugs." He just leans his head into you...no arms are involved.

Kids do and say the funniest things and the ones in my family are no exception!
(they are smart AND cute to boot).

road trip continued..

After arriving in Kentucky and visiting with some extended family for a day or so we continued on to New Jersey, where we visited my great-aunts and uncles that we have not seen in many years. My great-grandparent's dairy farm is now a beautiful horse farm. This is the view from my great-uncle's house...absolutely breathtaking.

With grass this soft we did a lot of lounging in the yard...literally

The Road Trip begins....well began

I guess the best place to start is at the beginning. My cousins and aunt (who flew in from Las Vegas) and my mom and I left for my aunt's house in Kentucky on Saturday the 21st... Nothing too exciting happened along the way, just your usual road trip..it was long and I got pretty sad when we were driving through Tennessee and I saw this....

I was pretty excited for the adventure ahead, but at that moment I realized how badly I missed Athens...and then I quickly returned to reality and realized we were in Tennessee and unfortunately far from The Classic City. With Athens, Tennessee behind us, we continued on our adventure.....

A bit behind....

I am finally home and unpacked from a wonderful but exhausting road trip. I did not have internet during the entire trip and looking back on it...it was kind of nice. I forgot what it was like to not be in front of a computer and actually enjoy sitting outside...doing absolutely nothing or just talking (more pictures of that to come!). Now that I have internet I can finally update my little 'ol blog. Well... I am very behind...Lets go back to Father's Day. We took my Dad to this German restaurant for Father's Day..that surprisingly we have never eaten at. Having lived in Germany when I was little and visiting my brother and sister-in-law when they lived in Germany, all of us were more than looking forward to some authentic German food...and that's exactly what we got...the food (and beer) was amazing (we were very pleasantly surprised). We were already planning a trip back before we even got in the car to go home. I had to get a picture of Brandon at the restaurant. It was just like he was back in his homeland... (he was born in Germany).

I love this picture of Brandon and Pop Pop. They are 2 peas in a pod.
